[Owncloud] owncloud for non-techs

Hello

Recently I've become interested in making my data available on multiple
devices in multiple locations. I have a few concerns about Dropbox and
others like it. I found out about Owncloud. My questions are these.

1. Does there exist a document somewhere on the net that explains in
'laymans' terms how to implement Owncloud for a user who is technically
minded and relatively conversant in computere-ese but most definitely not a
programmer?

2. To run Owncloud, do I need to be running Linux on my home rig? The reason
I ask is that I know 'kde' as a front end for Linux. I currently run Windows
7.

3. I have recently switched from a Blackberry to an iPhone 4 for my mobile
computing. I am not 100% convinced about the iPhone but right now it is so
much more functional than my Blackberry was that I'm not turned off yet. I
will be considering Android in the future. Can you tell me if Owncloud is
optimized in such a way as to make it easy for iPhone users to access their
data in the cloud?

I will understand if the you cannot answer this email. I will continue to
try to get information on my own. Basically I am looking for a secure
solution for cloud storage that is relatively easy for a non-tech expert to
implement.

Thanks
