Want to collaborate on debugging... No plugin for mimetype 'application/pdf'?

I understand you are using the distribution Okular, not a self compiled one 
right?

If so the problem is in debian packaging (you don't seem to have the pdf 
backend of okular compiled/installing).

Not much we can do here.
