Example with bitmap fonts for reprocuding the issue

SUMMARY

Pdfs with bitmap fonts are displayed badly, see attached pdf (generated with
pdflatex with METAFONT/modes.mf mechanisms).

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open the attached pdf in okular
2. Compare with other viewers, e.g. open in Firefox or Adobe Acrobat Reader,
etc. (actually, the only other viewers with similar issues seem to be evince
and PDFium only on desktop OSes, of which I guess the former uses similar code
and the latter something different, but my know-how does not go deep there; the
pdf seems to display well on mobile systems with everything I tried)

OBSERVED RESULT

Bad quality of the displayed document (individual glyphs and their placement).

EXPECTED RESULT

Good quality, as with other viewers except the ones mentioned.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Seems to be independent of OSes and their versions....
