--- Comment #5 from overezy123 at gmail.com ---
Adding my support for this feature request.

<Environment>
- OS: Ubuntu/Debian-based Linux, KDE desktop
- Okular version: 25.12.3

<My use case>
My research involves a large number of long documents, where I frequently use
Ctrl+F to search for keywords. Without X of Y information, I often lose my
precise standing point within a vast document — I have no sense of whether I am
at match 3 of 5, or match 3 of 80. This drags efficiency down significantly,
especially when I am on a phone discussing the content of a document while
simultaneously skimming keywords in Okular.

<Background>
I find it difficult to understand why Okular (a dedicated PDF reader) lacks a
feature that virtually every web browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) already
provides as standard. For a tool designed specifically for reading documents, X
of Y match count is not an advanced feature; it is a fundamental navigational
aid. Its absence is particularly noticeable precisely because Okular is
otherwise excellent.

For context, I recently evaluated OnlyOffice PDF as an alternative viewer
specifically because it implements X of Y with distinct colour differentiation
between the current match and other matches. However, OnlyOffice PDF has its
own limitations that would make Okular a much better long-term choice for my
workflow if only Okular was accompanied by the said feature — which makes the
absence of this one feature all the more frustrating.

I hope this request gains traction. It would meaningfully improve Okular's
usability for anyone working with long, text-heavy documents. Thank you for
your time and attention in advance.
