This is my preferred workflow. I can fit two or three document windows
side-by-side across my monitor, depending on the contents and the relative zoom
required for each. 

Stacking documents vertically provides a much more limited view of each
document, such that I can't see a full figure in one window at the same time as
more than a few lines in the other.
