yes, there was a cmake error (could not find lcms). i'll try to contact on irc.

well, this is not really in my control. RHEL 6 is a department wide
installation; they recently upgraded from RHEL 5.5 which had KDE
3.5.4. i am just a user.

(and to be honest, i don't think any of the KDE 4.x releases is
production quality/stability; so RedHat did what it could within its
time frame. unfortunately, the status quo (KDE 4.3.4) is going to
remain for the next 3-4 years)
