The bug has been reported, and it was closed by the reporter:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172802

If I am not mistaken, Karmic ships KDE SC 4.3.something - can you please try 
to update to KDE SC 4.4.x to see if it was fixed?
