Sorry to intervene...

I has the very(!) similar problem problem on my Core Duo 2.2MHz with 2GB RAM
laptop running FC11 with latest updates.

Moving between pages of any PDF file is slow, even mouse cursor freezes for
2-5s.
It seems(!) to me that Okular eats all available memory, as switching back to
any other application takes a lot of time and HD work.
