Alan Griffiths of Canonical presents about Miriway
Wayland: Mir is an option
Mir is for building Wayland compositors
Mir is alive
Ubuntu Frame is based on it
Mir is cross distro (Ubntu Debian Fedora Arch etc)
Miriway is designed to facilitate building a desktop environment
Miracle is a tiling window manager based on it
Lomiri another Mir effors
Question about LXQt.. he has tried it but didn't know what to look for
Simon Q has no objections to using KWin but it seems like a KDE thing and
for branding it makes sense to stay closer
Installer migration? Erich Eickmeyer was not happy about the state of
Ubiquity which is bitrotting and has bugs.
Classic ubuntu has used subiquity since a while ago.
We are advised to subscribe to Flavours discourse
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/c/flavors/22
How to talk to Desktop team? Matrix? ..No, Discourse is the best way.
Discussion of apparmor, John Johansen from canonical says he's got KDE
desktop working with it but Qtwebengine can be an issue (due to
assembly?). Appimages not guaranteed to work (like any other sandboxed
environment).
webkitgtk 4.0 being dropped
flavours are advised to ship the new ubuntu firmware update app by default,
flutter app
gnome software app (alternative to snap store) is being worked on, firmware
updater being dropped. deb handling part of gnome software being split
into separate package to allow it to be Flatpak only
