About the project state:
We are preparing for the last alpha release which will contain the
last most important features (look&feel plugin and menus support), but
it doesn't mean that we don't need help :) !
How can you collaborate? Actually this is a question for you, depends
very much on your skills (you say nothing about them :) ), but I'd
like to suggest you to begin by checking the code, IMHO one of the
best way to get used with the code is to try to fix issues, here
https://sourceforge.net/p/necessitas/tickets/ you can find all project
issues, please check only the open/accepted ones. You should start
with the less complicated ones (e.g #109, #138, #151, #154, #162,
etc.) first you have to check if they are reproducing, then try to
find a solution to fix them.
It is very hard for me to make an introduction with just a few words
:), but I think our (little bit outdated) wiki page
(https://sourceforge.net/p/necessitas/wiki) should give you enough
information to make an idea how to begin.
