This is a feature request for improvements to the bookmark system. A followup
to bug 285088.

Add to the bookmarks a category system, that allows to user to assign a
category for each bookmark. Allow the user to select which categories are
displayed on the map. Use different colors for the bookmark icon when
displaying different categories, or better yet, allow the user to select custom
icons for his categories. Perhaps the categories could be nested, as there
already are nestable folders for the bookmarks. For comparison, see the My
Places feature of Google Earth.

Allow the user to make the bookmarks function as links, either to an url or to
any file on the users computer. When the bookmark is clicked, the url is opened
in a browser or the file is opened with whatever application is set on the
system for the file's mimetype. For comparison, see the Wikipedia plugin.
