Create file on disk on new buffer creation

Hi Kåre,

Thanks for your quick response.

I am aware of the swap file feature and the backup options for buffers that
have been saved on disk, but this still requires me to save a new buffer to
a file at least once. I was asking if it would be possible to automate
this. The use case I have in mind is that sometimes I open a kate buffer to
copy some snippet or jot down some notes and then would carelessly close
kate without saving any of the new buffers, which prevents any of the
backup features from kicking in.

I guess what I was thinking of was a "Save new buffers to temp file on
creation" option. Do you think this would be a reasonable change?

Best,
jta
