Yes, did that. And it did not get picked up. Thus my email to this group.

There are very new. Here is the link to the Kate website that shows versions ;

There is nothing newer than version 17 as shown in the kate website.

Well, as per the instructions in the github site above, I copied the typescript.xml

to;

kate4 ->/usr/share/kde4/apps/katepart/syntax/typescript.xml

and later for kate5 -> /home/username/.local/share/katepart5/syntax/typescript.xml

Restarted kate etc but the typescript.xml was not picked up under Tools -> Highlighting -> Scripts.
