Problems with KATE

Is it just me or do we have a bad release of KDE? The number, spread and severity of bugs reminds me of the KDE3 -> KDE4 debacle.
I've had/got problems with Kate/KWrite, Dolphin (cause now identified), KMail and a general tardiness - to mention a few.
I can't raise bug reports due to lack of hard evidence so I just have to wait and hope things improve.
