Yes, it's deprecated and will be removed when KDE 3.3 comes out (I try to be 
backward compatible one version). KDELIRC should be used for remote 
controlling.

Works fine as long as you stay with XVIDEO output method of the v4l plugin. 
The algorithm is simple (taken from xawtv) but looks OK.
