   did you install into the directory KDE is installed in?  It sounds like 
maybe it isn't finding the plugins.  If you have KDE in /usr, you must 
./configure --prefix=/usr.  Use --prefix=/opt/kde3 for systems that installed 
in /opt/kde3, etc.
