[Kwintv] v4l works very badly, xv doesn't work at all

Well, I finally got KDEDIRS set right and now have all the plugins.
(/opt/kde3)

I couldn't get any devices to show up in the list with only the xv
plugin turned on, so I compiled the v4l stuff.

the v4l stuff tries to work but has some weird double image thing going
on and is generally "bad".

But still no xv stuff shows up.  xv stuff "used" to work for me with
other programs, I'll have to verify that it still does.  I know v4l
stuff works but I understand the kwintv v4l stuff is not ready yet.

Why would the xv stuff not show any devices?
