FYI: Antonio Larrosa Jimenez is working on a KDE-centric LIRC system which 
would allow multiplexing, launching, closing, etc.  It might be good to see 
where he is on this.  We don't need to move to it right away, but it would be 
nice to have such a system at some point.  It can be FAR more powerful.
