departments for each city for this?

Yes that is also a good idea, how are u planning to collate all the data
for this? I think it would be good to have a contact from different
parts of the US mail in all the relevant astronomy clubs for his state
and maybe for neighbouring states. For instance for me up north here I
possibly have about 10 astronomy clubs in all. I can find out who what
where etc.

BTW we have something closer to the Texas star party up north here
happening in Montana, so I could evangelise Kstars there and also find
out details of clubs etc. This will happen in June end sometime.

I think this is a good idea
