Assuming that we go by the inaccurate formulae that we currently use
for proper motion, it seems that we will require just about 2.1%
duplication for +/- 10000 years, taking the 50 arcmin tolerance into
account.
There was a bug with the script I used earlier - I had forgotten to
convert the argument to the cos() function into radians. With that
fixed, the scatterplot (attached) seems reasonable, showing a nearly
linear variation between the proper motion and the maximum number of
duplicate entries.
