[Kst] Kst as auto-configurable plotting/data processing component?

Dear Kst developers,

we are using Kst a lot in our robotics applications, as online plotting
tool. We now start up Kst manually with the right configuration (file
to open, etc.), but I was wondering to what extent Kst can be configured as
a stand-alone component that offers a "service port" to other components,
via which this configuration can be done automatically. This would most
probably involve the writing of a script in Kst, that makes the program
wait for another component to connect and configure the Kst component.

Is this something that has been done already? If not, is it something that
could be realised in a 1-2 months student project?

Maybe I should have asked the most important question first: is this
"auto-configuration component" stuff something that the Kst community is
interested in having in the first place?

Best regards,

Herman Bruyninckx
