thanks for all the explanations. I am starting to see the issue, but I don't have time right now to provide you detailed explanations. May I suggest you play around with one of the ASCII files in sample_data? I am pretty sure yuo'll understand my issues, if you consider carefully what happens to labels and legends when loading the data into one or more plots. 

In fact, I have the feeling that I don't grasp the concept behind units and quantities, maybe you could elaborate a bit on that?
