OK, thanks for the explanations. It's clearer now.
I believe you can achieve the desired effect by activating the legends on all
plots, but that requires that you set appropriate curve names. 
Actually, I'm wondering how you set left and top labels. Are they created
automatically by kst (I don't use the dirfile format, so I don't know exactly
what conventions there are and what kst picks up) or do you enter them by hand?
What names are listed in the datawizard?
