I've added all of your changes to my internal bug list (devel-

Basically, the update system doesn't update DataObjects (eg, psd, equations, 
plugins, histograms) at all.  Ever.  Its completely broken.  I am trying to 
decide if I want to do a complete re-write, or try to make what it there work.

I'll need to take *at least* a full day or two to fix this.
