I would agree. I believe that there's a large potential
user base out there who are still using RedHat 9.0 and 
there is no overwhelming reason to alienate them.

As long as Andrew is willing to make these patches, I think we can keep 
supporting 3.1 (ie RedHat 9 which remain unfortunately popular)...  So lets 
delay any changes to our requirements until we hit another big bump.
