   I can change it to point to, in your case, /usr/local/cdf27-dist/src/ which 
means that if it's installed in /usr, it should still find it with 
--with-cdf=/usr.  I'll do that in CVS today.

   Meanwhile, can you send me [privately] your config.log so I can see why the 
check failed for you with --with-cdf=?  Thanks.
