Hi everyone,
We have been using Kolab/Bynari/OL for a little while now and like it a
lot. However, we encountered several issues (mostly with Outlook,
something not to bother you with). A short summary of our experiences:
- Migration works smooth.... wow!
- Restarting the Kolab server with some Outlook connections still
open is _NOT_ a good idea (at least over here :) It resulted in
lost e-mails, Outlook becoming even less stable and required a
re-installation of the Bynari plugin. Makes you wonder what happens if
for some other reason the connection to the server is lost....
- FYI: You probably need a newer build of the Bynari plugin if your
Outlook stops responding when doing an "Advanced Find..." in your folders.
- When I modify a user's settings in the admin web-frontend, I see
his/her password already filled in in the necessary fields (with some
****'s). A quick 'view document source' gives me his/her password
in plain text. The reason for filling in these fields is beyond my
comprehension. Why not just leave the fields empty and update the
password only when the submitted password fields have nonzero length?
- We are in the midst of trying to use samba with authentication
based on the LDAP server. Anyone likes to share his/her
experiences with this? Anyone a clue about Poptop? I see from
http://poptop.sourceforge.net/dox/qna.html#21 that it might work.
Kind regards,
Balt van Rees
