Hi guys,
this is a pretty serious bug. It's not uncommon that people use
different versions of KMail on different machines.
Regards,
Ingo

Summary: All folders are deleted on IMAP server
Product: kmail
Version: unspecified
Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kmail at kde.org
ReportedBy: paul at yatsura.co.uk
Version: kroupware-RC2 (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE)
OS: Linux
IMAP server Cyrus 2.0.16
When looking at kmail (kroupware-rc2) for IMAP sieve support, I built
KMail from CVS, but keep the orginal KMail from 3.1.1 around, just in
case.
Everything seemed OK, although it did seem to take a long time syncing
the folders.
I closed kmail this morning, but opened the old version this morning.
I was minus my IMAP connection, I quickly realised that to was the
wrong version. So closed down the old version and open the new
version. After being prompted for the password, I noticed a kio style
progress dialog appear, informing me that it was deleting files. Not
thinking it was doing anything on the IMAP server, it was only the
second time I open it, I let it go on. It then reported that it could
not delete the INBOX on the mail server, then crashed. Re-opened the
new kmail and found that IMAP account had been removed. Recreated the
account and discovered that they where no folders in my INBOX.
I logged in to the cyrus server and found that indeed my account was
wiped clean, except for a folder that contained sub-folders, the email
messages in there where intact.
I've tried it a couple of times and it seems to happen everytime I open
the old kmail, I'll created a test account to see if I can provide any
more information, although I understand that it's not recommend to run
two different version of kmail. However, these consequences are a
little strong. _______________________________________________
