[Kroupware] Upstream integration

As I understand it, Kolab is currently a distribution of several pre
existing server packages, mandating the OpenPackage format. These packages
are maintained in a forked state in the kolab cvs. 

This is not particularly conducive to inclusion in distributions of Free
operating systems, and could potentially cause a lot of code duplication.
Are there any plans to get the functionality required in Kolab integrated
by upstream maintainers of the relevant packages?
