I had this too. Without a clue, I removed openldap and kolab (rpm -e --nodeps) 
and reinstalled them (rpm -Uhv --force), now it works.

Btw.: in the proftpd.conf.template is an entry named 
LsDefaultOptions      "-l", which keeps proftp from running. I changed this to
ListOptions              "-l" and all seems to work fine now.
