[Kroupware] nothing can talk to ldap?

Is there a file "session_vars.php"?
It should get created by a script,
if it is not there:

Try
/kolab/etc/kolab/kolab -o -v
And then stop and completely restart kolab
and see if that file gets created.
(/kolab/etc/kolab/kolab should create it, I assume
that somehow initialisation did not run properly before.)
