[KPhotoAlbum] Can't see images -> broken index.xml?

Hi,

KPA refuses to show me my images.

This morning I was able to use KPA normally, with an old (x months) version
compiled from GIT. Running Kubuntu 14.04.1

To try changes made to KPA 4.6 I updated to GIT master HEAD, started KPA
and got the message on database changes (another e-mail today). I think I
pressed no and closed KPA. [If I did something wrong here, can it cause all
this?]

Updated to GIT v6updates HEAD, as recommended by Tobias to see updated
warning messages. Started and then also allowed KPA to make the changes to
my database. After making the changes, all other icons in the main view
were grayed out except search, exif, untagged and view thumbs. Closed and
restarted and the icons were good again.

Now *I've ended to the situation where I can't see the images.* KPA shows
the total count of images but search returns no images, view thumbnails
tells me 'no images found'. index.xml of course has the images listed as
earlier.

I've tried with various combinations of old database backups and old KPA
versions (4.6, 4.5, maybe also 4.4) with no success. -> would indicate
there's something wrong with the system. But then again --demo works.

*Anyone have any ideas what to do / how to debug? What to do to prevent
anyone else from experiencing this?*

- kphotoalbum --demo works normally
- Browsing the tag categories from main/start window doesn't show me any
tags. In Search dialog I see all tags but search never returns any images.
- KPA shows me the total count of images correctly in status bar. The time
'histogram' is empty.
- I installed Kubuntu updates today. Don't think it changed anything
causing this but also possible..?
- At some point I updated to libjpeg8-dev as I got warnings when compiling
with libjpeg62-
dev: /usr/bin/ld: warning: libjpeg.so.8, needed by
//usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libraw_r.so.9, may conflict with libjpeg.so.62
- During compilation I get plenty of this:
In file included from /usr/include/exiv2/metadatum.hpp:39:0,
                 from /usr/include/exiv2/exif.hpp:34,
                 from /home/rhk/Ohjelmat/kphotoalbum/Exif/Info.h:23,
                 from
/home/rhk/Ohjelmat/kphotoalbum/Settings/SettingsData.h:29,
                 from
/home/rhk/Ohjelmat/kphotoalbum/HTMLGenerator/HTMLDialog.cpp:31:
/usr/include/exiv2/value.hpp:984:25: note: attribute for ‘struct
Exiv2::DateValue::Date’ must follow the ‘struct’ keyword
         EXIV2API struct Date
                         ^

Thanks for any pointers..
