That's been already reported [1]; not sure if anyone is working on that. I don't think the port would be so hard, so patches are welcome. I likely won't be able to have a look at it anytime soon, sorry.

I am however quite surprised to see a source-incompatible change during the KDE4's lifetime. Isn't libkipi supposed to guarantee a stable API & ABI, as any other KDE library?
