I'm afraid I have no idea.
|
| How can I resolve this?

No idea either, it has been a long process for me myself to go to KDE4.

| How can I do this without losing all of the tags, etc. that I put on my

In the root directory of your images is a file called index.xml, that is where
everything is stored in.
In addition, there are settings in ~/.kde/share/config/kphotoalbumrc but there
are just the settings from your settings dialog.

Backing up those two files, and you should be pretty safe.
