A quick statistics based on three independent sets of data: users have
between 0.4% and 16% of portrait images :).

To retain existing flexibility, I'd change "thumbnail size" to two items:
a) maximal dimension that the table cell can occupy
b) aspect ratio (1:1, 3:2, 4:3, 16:9, 2:3, 3:4, 9:16)
I'm a bit worried if that doesn't cross that border "oh this is so
customizable that we can't use that anymore" :).
