Could it be that your problems come from this version? If you are using some 
old SVN-version it's possible that there existed some problems.

Where did you get KPA? Did you compile it by yourself or did you use some 
precompiled version? If you compiled it yourself, did you follow the 
instructions on http://www.kphotoalbum.org/download-svn.html including 
the "make install" command?
