[KPhotoAlbum] New install crashing

I just installed version 2.1 via apt-get on Kubuntu 5.10 on a 1.5gHz
P4 machine with 256MB RAM. I can run the program and narrow down
search terms (in the demo database). However, when I try to view the
images, KimDaBa crashes:
dotancohen at ety:~/Desktop/music$ kimdaba
KCrash: Application 'kimdaba' crashing...
dotancohen at ety:~/Desktop/music$

What must I do to correct this? I have not changed any options or
imported any photos- this is a new install (on a fresh OS) and the
demo database.
