Well, I doubt that this would change anything. The main issue is the lack of 
maintainers; a petition would hardly do the job.

I would like to help but I don't have much free time, and more importantly I 
don't have enough abilities to work on this. I am sorry to say that right now 
I am unable to help, unless there are other means than maintaining to save 
KIPI (which is unlikely).
