As long as you're talking about multiple formats of the same image...
how about multiple shots of the same subject?  Often I'll shoot
different exposures, slightly different compositions, focus bracketing,
etc. of the same subject.  Usually some are clearly inferior and I
delete them.  But sometimes several are good, just different.  Might be
nice to be able to link these versions as well.
