That sounds like you're starting from a different point. It sounds like you had
an already-in-use system. I have never been able to reproduce the bug on such a
system.

I just spent some time on this and this sequence produced the failure every
time here:

1. log out
2. restart X
3. log in
4. fill the screen with a window (in my case I used FF to fill the screen, but
I imagine that anything will work)
5. Right click the kopete icon and go online

5a. Nothing happens.

6. Go to a different virtual desktop.
7. Right click the kopete icon and go online

7a. Nothing happens

8. Left click on kopete icon

8a. Now, at last, the kwallet dialogue appears.

Since it sounds like you were not going through the correct sequence to trigger
the bug, I don't think it's valid to mark this bug as RESOLVED/WORKSFORME.
