I'm also affected by this.
The auto indentify feature sound really like a time saver, but I can't setup
like this.

So, I +1 with Kaddi.bug , he informed on the right pattern for Quakenet server
:
/msg Q at CServe.quakenet.org auth <registeredname> <password>

As a solution (I'm not a dev ) , I would propose this :
- Keep the same GUI (

- have conversation detecting if the service entered by user is
'Q at CServe.quakenet.org' then send the pattern 
/msg <service> auth <registeredname> <password>
- at startup.
