With transparency turned on in kde delay is ~0.7 sec, without transparency it's
much shorter, maybe ~0.2sec.

I do have ibus (with input methods) running, but methods are not turned on.

Also the card on this machine is pretty old, GeForce 9400 GT. May this be a
problem?
Will try on another machine.
