Absolutely - though I would always suggest putting together a quick
prototype first to avoid spending a long time pursuing path which
someone else might spot a fundamental problem with.  As I'm sure
you've experienced, running code, even if pretty rough, can often be
much more persuasive than a long mailing list thread.
