Firstly - I don't mind making it possible for Konsole not to remember the
window size or to use a specified fixed size for new windows.  It just needs
someone to write the code,

However, when I came to overhaul Konsole I had a long list of priorities and
this wasn't at the top.  I felt, and I still do think, that remembering the
last used window size is the best behavior for the majority of users (who only
have one or two Konsole windows open in a session) - so that got implemented
first.  That's all there is to it.

As far as this being a 'show stopper' goes - I think it is daft if you're being
made to choose between two complete desktops based on one feature of one
program.  Konsole from KDE 3 works under KDE 4 and it really ought to be
possible to have both installed at the same time so you can run Konsole/KDE 3
under KDE 4.2.  I understand that distributions have a trade-off to make and
any effort they invest in keeping KDE 3 apps running is time they could be
spending on KDE 4 but I still find it daft that packaging systems make it such
a pain to have many versions of the same software installed at once.

The other approach, of never removing any feature or option from an application
hurts new users at the expense of keeping a (relatively small) number of
existing ones happy.
