Summary: Slow maximize / restore for konsole --enable-
                    transparency
           Product: konsole
           Version: 2.0
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: konsole-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: upstaked gmail com

Version: 2.0 (using KDE 4.0.3)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc 4.2.3
OS: Linux

Maximizing / restoring is extremely slow for konsole --enable-transparency.

During maximization, X.org spikes with huge cpu usage (not noticeable during restore), and as far as i can tell, all video output is "frozen".
This is reproducible regardless of WM / compositing enabled or not.

Running xorg 1.4.0.90, with nvidia 169.12. One thing that might be of interest is exhibiting the exact same behaviour with konsole 1.6's experimental compositing support -- see bug #150287 for background.
The nvidia drivers where at the 100.x series back then (and iirc this started without a driver update), so the likely culprit must be a change in xorg 7.3. The 2nd comment in 150287 seems to confirm this.

Also, this doesn't seem to be a GPU issue, since the spike & freeze are less noticeable on a more powerful CPU (but they're still there).
