I just remember that at work on MS, powerterm does this auto scaling of the fonts.  It can do this because it doesn't have to worry about more than one session (ie. no tabs).
The font-setting-config may go through some changes in KDE4.0.  I've been thinking about removing the Small->Huge and replacing them with 'decrease/increase size'
Anyway, don't hold your breath for this wish.
