[Konsole-devel] problem with initial konsole path setting

I just upgraded to KDE 3.3.2 and Konsole 1.4.2 and
the default path seems to have been changed from
KDE 3.2.3. I fixed the problem for the initial konsole
by changing the konsole icon command to a login
(ksh) shell (konsole -e ksh -ls"). But additional tabbed
shells are started as non-login shells and my .profile
is not automatically executed. I have to do a
". /home/daf/.profile" to get the environment for
the tabbed shells properly initialized.
I should add that one other change to my system is
that I started using xdm to provide a graphical login.
I tried to use kdm, but I could not succeed in logging
in with kdm (did I mention that I'm running OpenBSD? :-) )
It looks like the problem with kdm is that it does not
recognize BSD-style authorization. I get KDE started up from
my xsession file. This may impact my initial path but
I have not yet figured out how yet.
The path problem also shows up when I start kword
by clicking on the kword icon in the task panel.
Everything seems to work until I try to print. Then
the print process reports it can't find /usr/local/bin/lpr.
When I start kword from a konsole session started as
a login shell, kword printing works as expected.
So how do I get the initial path used by KDE to be the
path I specify in my profile?
Thanks,
Dave Feustel
