Compiling kde apps with libqte

All, 

I am working on a not-for-profit project
(http://www.digitalequalizer.org/) which among other
things tries to create low-resource executables of
educational software for developing countries. This
project is also related to
(http://www.rule-project.org/) 

Since a full-blown KDE desktop takes too many
resources on our target machines, we would like to
create QT/E versions of a few KDE programs (just like
konq/e). Since you have probably lots of experiences
with that I was wondering, if someone could outline
the required steps to do so or if you could point me
to related documentation.
