Oh yeah, the dreaded encoding problem. I've noticed that for a while when 
using the KDE 3 version. It looks like this broken code is still there in the 
KDE 4 version, I guess it needs fixing there too.

I can commit it, I wonder whether that fix is correct, but then again it 
clearly improves some things, so I guess it's the right thing to do.
