I selected the simple category list in setup, but I did not write down the category names for use when entering a transaction. I could not find a way to print this list? I want to use your basic category list for most transactions and will add in others as needed, but I don’t know how to access this default category list? Can you send me the list or let me know to access it. I have not entered any transactions yet just built in the accounts.
If I understand this correct, then you have created a few accounts and categories already. In that state it is easy to take a look at both hierarchies. Open the Accounts view or the Categories view. More information about the views can be found in the handbook at
https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/kmymoney/kmymoney/details.accounts.html#details.accounts.view and
https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/kmymoney/kmymoney/details.categories.html
In case you don't see your accounts or categories, use the "Show all accounts" option in the View menu. They may be hidden, because the option "Don't show accounts with zero balance" is active.
https://docs.kde.org/stable5/en/kmymoney/kmymoney/reference.html#reference.menus.view
Also, there is no need to remember the category names. When entering transactions, the hierarchy will be presented in a drop down box. Simply start entering a part of the name of the receiving category or account for transfers and KMyMoney will present all matching names.
Unfortunately, the handbook is not up-to-date with the current version and therefore things look a little different than documented. We are aware of that and working on it.
Hope that helps. If you have further questions just let us know.
